Presenters

Jeffrey Albaugh, MA, is an independent scholar and educator.  Jeffrey holds a Bachelor’s in Theatre, and a Master’s in Depth Psychology.  He has served on the Board of Directors for Cherry Hill Seminary, currently serves as Program Manager for the Conference on Current Pagan Studies and is co-chair of the Pagan Studies Unit of the American Academy of Religion, Western Regional.
 
CaraJudea Alhadeff, PhD, has published dozens of books and essays on climate justice, animism, interfaith spirituality, critical philosophy, performance studies, sexuality, and ethnic studies. Her photographs and performance-videos are in private and public collections including MoMASalzburg and SanFrancisco MoMA, and have been defended internationally by freedom-of-speech organizations. Her collaborations include international choreographers, composers, poets, sculptors, architects, scientists. Alongside Vandana Shiva and Desmond Tutu, Alhadeff received the Random Kindness Award, 2020. Former professor at UC SantaCruz and Global Center for Advanced Studies and Program Director for Jews Of The Earth, Alhadeff teaches, performs, and parents a creative-zero-waste life: photo@carajudea.com; www.carajudea.com; www.zazudreams.com
 
Murtagh anDoile/Armando Marini is an independent scholar and researcher.  He is the Director for the Pagan History Project. He has a degree in Anthropology and has worked as an archaeologist for Brown University.  Tagh has been involved in the Pagan movement since 1968, and is a Druid and elder of the Tuatha De Danann Tradition (NECTW) and the group, Nemed na Morrigna.  Through talks given in the early 80’s, he is one of the progenitors of the Celtic Reconstructionist movement.  He was interviewed in   Keepers of the Flame: Interviews with Elders of Traditional Witchcraft in America.  Contact: tagh@att.net.
 
James “Pigeon” Fielder, PhD teaches political science at Colorado State University and studies trust and emergent political processes inside of game worlds and Fantasy/Sci Fi literature. His most recent work was an immersive-ethnographic study of power and norm dynamics in two Denver-area Vampire: The Masquerade live action roleplaying groups, published in The Politics of Horror (Picariello, ed. 2020). Pigeon is also a roleplaying content creator for Evil Beagle Games. Pigeon is a Non-Officer Director in Ár nDraíocht Féin (ADF) and founded ADF's Games & Play Special Interest Group. 

Joanne M. Greene, MA, JD, was raised Seventh-Day Adventist. She attended SDA schools from 1st Grade through college, receiving her BA in History from Pacific Union College in 1995. Additional degrees include an MA in National Security Studies from CSU San Bernardino and a JD from Concord Law School. She is an Ovate in the Fellowship of Birch, Yew, and Oak (OBOD), a member of Monte Vista UU Congregation, and attends Congregation Emanu-El. An active Pagan for more than 30 years—and an atheist for life--Mark Green is an activist, essayist, author, poet and religious leader. Founder of the nontheist Pagan path Atheopaganism, he has been gratified to find that thousands of fellow Pagans have gravitated to the Principles and practices of this path since he first published an essay describing it in 2009.  Mark is the author of Atheopaganism: an Earth-Honoring Path Rooted in Science as well as a volume of collected poetry, A Red Kiss, and is the publisher of the Atheopaganism blog at Atheopaganism.org. His work was also featured in the anthology Godless Pagans, for which he wrote the foreword.  He serves on the Council of The Atheopagan Society, a tax-exempt nonprofit religious organization dedicated to supporting practicing Atheopagans in development and practice of their paths. He also blogs at witchesandpagans.com, naturalisticpaganism.org, and his work is gathered with that of other naturalistic Pagans at naturalpagans.com. Heather Greene, M.A. is a freelance journalist and editor living in Atlanta, Ga. She is currently an acquisitions editor at Llewellyn Worldwide. She has a degree in Film Studies from both Wesleyan University and Emory University. Heather has been researching and writing about Paganism, Witchcraft, and the occult for over 25 years. Her work has been published in The Wild Hunt, where she was managing editor, Circle Magazine, Religion News Service, and beyond. Heather is author of Bell, Book, and Camera: A Critical History of Witches in American Film and Television.

Melissa Harrington, PhD, has been involved in the academic study of Paganism since undertaking her PhD on conversion to Wicca at the millenium. She is a regular contributor to academic books, journals and conferences, and a peer reviewer for The Pomegranate, International Journal of Pagan Studies. She also is a practicing Wiccan working for the Pagan Federation as a media adviser and conference organiser, and is the founding secretary of The Pagan Seminary, which is currently developing training courses for Pagan Chaplains in the UK. She is a senior visiting lecturer on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy courses at the University of Cumbria.  

Julie “Lagen” Lovejoy is founder of Coven on the Edge, an eclectic Wiccan coven in Ojai, CA. A retired college professor, she holds a Master’s degree in Education and is a spirit-guided witch.  She writes for various pagan publications, teaches magic, and builds fairy cottages.
 
Nancy Meyer, PhD, Graduated from Claremont Graduate University with a PhD in Hebrew Bible with an emphasis on ancient near eastern history and archaeology. She also holds degrees in Mythology with an emphasis on depth psychology, Classics, and Comparative Religion. Currently, she is a lecturer in the Classics department at CSU Long Beach as well as in the department of Religion and Literature at Soka University. Her favorite playground is at the intersection of mythology and history in the ancient world.

Lilith Pearson is currently working on three Bachelor's       degrees in accounting, forensic psychology and forensic anthropology. A  student of Wicca, Faery Seership Apprenticeship, and American folk magic. She is proud to be a board member of the Conference on   Current Pagan   Studies, striving to expand academia to the Pagan community.
 
Angela Puca, PhD, is currently lecturing at Leeds Trinity University and holds a PhD awarded by the University of Leeds.  Her research interests focus on Magic, Witchcraft, Paganism, Shamanism and Esotericism in Italy.  In addition, Angela hosts a
 
Rune Hjarnø Rasmussen, PhD,  is a Historian of Religion. He has researched Afro-Atlantic religion and pre-Christian Nordic religion and is presently developing an traditional knowledge perspective on Nordic History of religions as rejected animist knowledge forms.
 
Kellen Smith currently works at California State University, Channel Islands in the area of Document Management as an Electronic Records Specialist. She holds two bachelor's degrees; one in Religion from California Lutheran University and one in History from CSU Channel Islands. Kellen is also a board member for the Ventura County Interfaith Community (VCIC) and a member of Campus Interfaith at CSUCI.
 
Alfred Surenyan, DMA, is a Composer and an Ethnomusicologist. He   currently is an Adjunct Professor at the Art Institute of Ca-Inland Empire. He has studied folk music and has incorporated folk music elements into his musical compositions. He has researched the music of the Neo-Pagan Movement with plans of a book. Currently, he is composing music in the realms of electronic music for Theremin, Synthesizer, and computer. He has plans this year for chamber music that include Pagan Theology and music for the Toy Piano (a musical Instrument first used by John Cage).
 
Kahena Dorathea Viale, PhD, is the creator and organizer of the Conference on Current Pagan Studies. She teaches at Cal Poly Pomona where she enjoys the opportunity to introduce her students to experiential activities like mask making, dancing, as well as, guiding them to be    critical thinkers. Kahena is an ardent fan of embodied knowledge and acquires hers through raqs al-sharqi, referred to in the United States as belly dance. She shares this knowledge through her classes and sacred dance dramas. Kahena serves as the president of the American Academy of Religions, Western    Regional.  Dr. Viale is currently writing on lived religions as shared by women, as well as, the validity of religion not based on revelation.
